Electrotechnology/communications – electrical, electronics, communications including appliance servicing, computer systems, data and information technology, instrumentation, lifts, motor assembly and overhaul, refrigeration and air conditioning and renewable sustainable energy.

The electrotechnology industry is a pervasive, complex and diverse industry that is rapidly expanding and changing. The challenging aspect of this industry is that participants are frequently exposed to cutting edge technology. Thus the industry offers an array of exciting career prospects.

The many varied vocations generally cover such work as design, research, management, estimation, assembly, installation, construction, diagnostics, maintenance, commissioning, programming, testing or repair of networks, systems, circuits, computers, equipment, components, appliances, facilities and the like in the electrotechnology engineering fields of electrical, including appliance servicing and motor winding; electronics; communications including broadcast data, sound and video, as well as telecommunications; information technology; computer systems; instrumentation; lifts; refrigeration and air conditioning; and renewable/sustainable energy.

Security Installation Training Package PRS03

Overview:

The redevelopment of the PRS03 Asset Security Training Package into the new Security sector in CPP07 Property Services Training Package has been completed. The following industry sectors are covered:

  • security operations
  • investigative services
  • security and risk management
  • biometrics
  • technical security
  • The documentation for the redeveloped Security sector units of competency and qualifications were lodged with the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) in September 2007. The draft Training Package has been through the State and Territory Training Authorities Evaluation Teleconference. The endorsement submission is proceeding to the National Quality Council.
