EUPA provides strategic advice to the State Training Board, the Western Australian Department of Training and Industry, regarding industry training issues.

The State Training Board is the peak industry training advisory body to the Minister for Training in Western Australia. The role of the Board is to provide high level advice to the Minister on the supply and demand for skills, particularly those industries that are experiencing skills shortages. Functions of the Board include the preparation of the State Training Profile that provides a three year outlook into Western Australia’s skills needs and priorities for publicly funded vocational and education training. To assist the Board in informing the Minister on industry’s training needs market intelligence is received and recognised by the Board from the State’s Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs).

The Department of Education and Training is responsible for planning the long term development of the State's training system to meet the current and future needs of industry, the community and regional areas.
